AUGUST 8: NELL VEENSTRA Nell received her undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts, from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her degree was in music education and piano performance. Graduate studies were done at Michigan State University. Her teaching experience spans 30 plus years, working with children as well as adults. She retired from East Lansing Public Schools in 1998, where she taught elementary music. Nell was a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA), for several years while she was teaching. Orff Schulwerk is a way to teach and learn music, and is based on things children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance and keep a beat. Nell was also a member of the Music Teachers National Association, and active with the local chapter in Lynden. (LMTA)
