The Jansen Art Center and the Whatcom Weavers Guild would like to present the Fibers & Beyond Keynote Address, My Job as a Weaver, presented by Dr. Susan Pavel – sa’hLa mitSa. Dr. Susan Pavel will share the journey of 20 years of Coast Salish Weaving and the intention of the next 20 years of Coast Salish Weaving. As her master teacher was Bruce Miller – subiyay of the Skokomish Nation, he shared many cultural teachings that still unveil themselves to this day. She will illuminate the past, explain the present, and inspire the future. Stories will be shared, current research efforts revealed, and a possibility for the future galvanized. She invites you to elevate your own sacred job as weaver.
